Intro

I was sifting through the ghost-spider decks for a repurpose build but wasn't able to find one so i decided to build my own. The deck revolves around perfect defending on defense and discarding the used tech cards with repurpose plus using Gwens ability to ready to deal massive damage on offense. I really love this deck because it changes the way protection decks normally work. Sure we do try to achieve perfect defence but the main way to defeat the villain is by attacking and not defending. It feels very much like playing aggression deck in protection! So let's dive into the deck and see how it operates.

Allies

This is a perfect defense deck so we don't need allies to block for us which means we can build the deck with just a few of them.

I like to use Brother Voodoo and Daredevil because they are cheap and good for thwarting. Brother Voodoo is 3 ER but his ability always refunds one card since there are total of 22 events in the deck so that makes him 2 ER.

Our last ally is Spider-Man and he in the deck because he is cheap and can get us some extra value. He can ready a Web-Bracelet that was used on the vilains turn which would draw us a card and then we can use the Web-Bracelet again to draw one more card, but this rarely happens to me so maybe he should be replaced with a different ally for example Jocasta.

Events

Events are the bulk of the deck and this are the cards that do all the work for us.

Repurpose is the core event in the deck which lets us deal huge amounts of damage so we run 3 of these. Including the 2x Web-Bracelet we have 8 targets for Repurpose so we will almost always have something to discard altho i should mention that you should keep at least one Web-Bracelet in play since that is our key build card. And even if we don't have a tech upgrade to discard we can always store the Repurpose under George Stacy for later use. Most of the times Repurpose is used to boost Gwens attack but there is the option to boost her thwart if we need to remove more threat or even boost our defense if we know we are about to take a huge attack on the next villain turn.

2x Counter-Punch and 1x What Doesn't Kill Me have a similar purpose in the deck and that is to leverage Repurpose even more. Because Repurpose lasts until end of the round Counter-Punch can hit for 4 or 5 for just 1 ER! Even if it hits only for 2 which is not bad anyway we can use Counter-Punch to trigger Gwens ability and ready after she defends. A combo i like to do is defend and use Counter-Punch to ready then soak the extra damage with Forcefield Generator or Energy Barrier to trigger Unflappable. What Doesn't Kill Me plays similar just on our turn. After Repurpose we can ready again to use the attack/thwart boost again. The only problem you could run into is the resource requirement so that's why i run just one copy.

I run 3x Expert Defense and 2x Jump Flip to help us achieve perfect defense. Expert Defense is perfect for Gwen since its extra 3 defense for only 1 ER. I run Jump Flip to have a little extra thwarting but these cards can be replaced with Defiance or Not Today! or Preemptive Strike depending on your preference.

Resources

In here we don't do any special. We run all the basic double resources and 1x The Power of Protection. I would like to run 2 copies but wanted to cap the deck at 40 cards so had only space for 1.

Supports

We don't run any supports but we have to talk little bit about the one support that comes in Gwens kit. George Stacy is very important card for this deck and probably all the Gwen decks out there so George Stacy or Parental Guidance are our third priority when mulliganing. More than half of the deck is events so he lets us store extra event cards under him for later use. But not only that, he can also be used to prepare for a one turn kill once we flip the villain to the next stage. What i like to do is slow the game down by not using my offensive cards if i don't really need to and instead store them under George Stacy, and after i feel like i have enough damage just destroy the villain in one turn. But there is one problem with this approach and that is the dreaded obligation card Worried Father. This card can ruin your whole plan if drawn in the wrong moment so you have to be really careful as to how you use George Stacy if Worried Father is still in the encounter deck. I like to use the stored cards as soon as possible when Worried Father is in the encounter deck but once its out of play or in the discard i try to build George Stacy fast and do the huge turn before it potentially pops up again. We can turbo build George Stacy by using Gwens AE ability and using Parental Guidance. And even if we are unlucky with the obligation the deck still performs well and can still do good amount of damage.

Upgrades

Unflappable together with Web-Bracelet are our main build cards and are the top two priorities when mulliganing. From my experience one Web-Bracelet is enough but the second one wouldn't hurt since we can discard it for Repurpose if not needed. Unflappable is here to draw us a card every time we defend without taking any damage. Without this cards the deck plays poorly so it's very important to put this cards into play ASAP!

3x Forcefield Generator and 3x Energy Barrier are the cards that glues together the defensive and offensive play style of the deck. We use them on defense to mitigate damage which helps us achieve perfect defense and when almost depleted we can discard them with Repurpose to boost our attack/thwart which helps us on offense.

And lastly we need to talk about Ticket to the Multiverse. This card serves for two purposes. Early in the game is simply a double resource, but later in the game is the second key card that helps us one turn defeat the villain. It basically gives us an extra turn when we are about the go all in. Neat trick that i like to use is flip to AE and shuffle the Ticket to the Multiverse in the deck on the turn that i am about to deck out so i can draw i for next turn.

Outro

That is all the explanation of the deck and i would like to thank you for reading through all of it. So far i used it against expert Sandman two times in a two player game and two times against expert Magog in a solo game and the deck performed really good. On the second game poor Magog never managed to hit me and ended up with 28 damage in his face :D. I hope you guys give it a try and have as much fun as i did!

Fun deck! I’m always a sucker for a repurpose deck. For my own tastes I would always try to squeeze the basic Peter Parker ally in a web-warriors repurpose deck since he provides access to another ready after the repurpose bonus (plus he’s just great value)

@josseroo Yeah i thought about his as well im just not sure if i can play him as often cause of the resource requirement.. but i will give him a try and see how it goes, thanks for the advice!
