SNEAKING INTO MEDITATION CLASS combines the new card Meditation and the Sneak Attack strategy, all powered by Wanda's unparalleled deck cycling ability and her stellar villain control to build up your board quickly while controlling the game and then unleashing devastating and dynamic combos in the mid to late game.

This deck may appeal to you if you, like me, are a fan of the Avengers Assemble/Blaze of Glory decks that Controls and builds up a board on route to a One Turn Kill (OTK). This deck accomplishes a similar feat but is trickier to pilot and has a more dynamic end game.

Sneak Attack is a card with exciting possibilities but also many obstacles to overcome which this deck aims to alleviate.

  • The first is that allies are a primary form of defense in Marvel Champions. Scarlet Witch gets around this because she can consistently stun the villain with Hex Bolt and because the deck is utilizing Meditation so it is in Alter Ego every other villain phase. Scarlets ability to confuse also comes in handy as to not advance the scheme during mediation
  • The second is that you must acquire Sneak Attack and a big ally in the same hand at minimum to utilize sneak attack, and additional combo pieces such as Go Down Swinging if you really want to maximize its value. Wanda's hand cycling abilities with Spiritual Meditation, her AE superpowered siblings, and Agatha Harkness make this a nonissue.
  • The third issue is that most sneak attack decks can only sneak in big allies but cannot play them for more consistent board management from turn to turn. This deck is able to both play and sneak in big allies, due to the abundance of resources, Meditation, and Chaos Magic.

EARLY GAME Mulligan and Cycle for Meditation/Chaos Magic and Supports. At worse you can play a big Ally to manage the board while you set up. Use additional resources on Hex Bolt to control the villain.

MID GAME Play your Command Teams and build up the board with a few big allies. Black Panther is a great set up piece for the end game burst. Played allies and a few sneak attacks should be able to manage the threat and minions. Continue to use Hex Bolt for villain control/card cycle/draw.

LATE GAME Once you have your board set up with a Few Big allies and Command Teams its time to burst down the villain. You should have all the card draw/resources and card cycling to pull off some sweet combos. Sneak Attack and Mediate Big Allies to the table, multi-activate with command team (or get readies), and Go Down Swinging to burst down the villain in one turn.

CARDS TO CONSIDER This deck is very modular and can be tweaked to adjust to the role you are fulfilling in a team setting or your playstyle.

  • Save the Day: if you want to be thwarting focused
  • Deft Focus: For a discount on Hex Bolt if your economy feels off
  • Sorcerer Supreme: It's okay if you get it early, but since you have plenty of card draw anyways and only spend half your turns in hero form it doesn't provide great value. If you are playing MP you might as well include it given how long games run.
  • White Tiger: if you really want more card cycling
  • Leadership Training: This deck has a lot of card cycling as is, so you see Sneak Attack with great frequency already, but if you are looking for a deck to run this card in it's okay here as a 1 of.
  • Summoning Spell: to summon big allies mid-late game and help set up end game combos
  • Get Ready: If you find you can't maintain tempo over the villain you can sub out Command Teams for Get Ready

Seems like Summoning Spell should be an easy inclusion in here. Rapid Response is also nice with large allies. Doesn't work well with Sneak Attack but anything you get into play with Meditation, Chaos Magic, or Summoning Spell would do well with it.

@Erathis Funny story with that is I'm not sure where my copy of Summoning Spell is (along with a few other cards). I didn't include it in the deck because I never got to test it myself. I think early game it counters what the deck wants to do. Wanda is great at curating a hand with precision and lining up a meditation/chaos magic with a support/big ally. In the midgame, Summoning Spell could be great as it helps you build up a board of big allies and set up for those end-game combos. Great idea Erathis.

I like the suggestion of Leadership Training, as it has some synergy with Agatha Harkness. After a few activations of Agatha, you know what the final hand of your deck is going to be, and whether you'll need to use Training to add something to that hand. Alternatively, if Agatha has to put something crucial on the bottom, Training can shuffle it, hopefully closer to the top.

@Erathis Rapid Response would work well here with Goliath - use his +4 ATK ability, attack twice thanks to command team, he gets defeated, comes back with Rapid Response and is here to stay because Sneak Attack's discard no longer affects him as he's technically a different card now. Black Panther and Cpt. Marvel can also knock themselves out the turn they come out with a single ready.
